Infinite Realms is a browser-based solo RPG with an AI Dungeon Master that runs on Gemini — Google's latest AI model. You create a D&D 5E character, start a campaign, and play through a persistent story that adapts to every decision you make.

Here's what makes it different from a chatbot with a fantasy prompt:

It Remembers Everything

The AI DM tracks thirteen categories of memory — NPCs you've met, locations you've explored, items you've found, plot threads, atmospheric details, even memorable dialogue. Betray the merchant in session one, and she'll remember when you come crawling back for supplies in session twelve.

Memories are scored by importance and recency, so the AI always has the most relevant context loaded. It doesn't just remember facts — it weaves them back into the narrative naturally.

Real D&D 5E Under the Hood

This isn't "narrative-only" AI roleplay. Infinite Realms runs actual 5E mechanics:

  • Initiative tracking with full turn order
  • Attack rolls with advantage, disadvantage, and modifiers
  • Spell slot management and concentration saves
  • Death saves when things go sideways
  • Passive skill checks calculated correctly (10 + modifier + proficiency — the AI never asks you to "roll a passive check")
  • Racial traits, class features, and fighting style bonuses all factored in

3D Battle Maps

When combat kicks off, you get a full 3D battle map built on React Three Fiber:

  • Grid system with square and hex support
  • Tokens with health bars, condition icons, and elevation indicators
  • Fog of war with brush tools
  • Vision and lighting — walls block line of sight, light sources illuminate areas
  • Drawing tools for marking terrain, zones, and notes
  • Measurement tools and area-of-effect templates (cone, sphere, cube, line)
  • Real-time updates via WebSocket

Cinematic Voice Narration

The DM doesn't just type — it speaks. Every AI response can be narrated with text-to-speech, including character-specific voices for NPCs. The system generates audio progressively as the DM speaks, so you hear the story unfold in real time.

How a Session Actually Works

  1. Create a character — Full 5E creation: race, class, ability scores (standard array or manual), equipment, proficiencies, spells, background, and an AI-generated backstory and appearance.

  2. Start a campaign — Pick a setting or let the AI generate one from your character concept.

  3. Play — Type what you want to do in plain English. "I sneak past the guards." "I cast Fireball at the cluster of goblins." "I try to persuade the duke to lend us his army." The AI narrates the result, rolls dice behind the scenes, and advances the story.

  4. Come back anytime — Your campaign persists. Pick up right where you left off, whether it's been an hour or a month.
